The fine folks at the Nature Conservancy are offering an island adventure that’s close to home, but worlds away. Enter a chance for you and a guest to experience the beauty and grandeur of Santa Cruz Island, one of the five islands that make up the Channel Island National Park off the Ventura coast.
Winners will board a vessel from Island Packers, explore the ancient land of the Chumash, meet scientists, maybe spot a Santa Cruz Island fox or bald eagle and stay overnight at the historic ranch. Talk about nature with style!
Santa Cruz Island is the setting for T.C. Boyle’s latest book When the Killing’s Done that explores difficult – and sometimes unresolvable – choices mankind faces to protect nature.
The Island trip takes place June 25-26, 2011; bad weather date July 30-31, 2011. Winners will be notified after May 25, 2011.
No purchase necessary. Open to US residents, 18 or older.
You must enter by May 13, 2011.
The prize includes (a) round-trip ferry transportation on from Ventura, CA to Santa Cruz Island, CA (b) one night of accommodations at a historic ranch, (c) dinner and breakfast on the Island, and (c) time with scientists on the Island.
